On Wednesday 17th of May, 2017 at 10:00 am. Under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jamil, the President of the University of Zakho. The Deanship of the Faculty of Education at the University of Zakho organised the first annual sports festival for the field of "arena and square" at the University of Zakho. Under the slogan "Peshmerga is a symbol of our glory", in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel-Wahab Khaled Mousa, Vice President for Student Affairs, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sherzad Zakaria Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Mr. Kendal Nazan, President of the Kurdish Institute - Paris, and some lecturers and university students.
It is worth mentioning that, 13 different activities held in the festival, with the participation of males and females from the department of sport.
The results of the events in which the sports department participated in the festival as follows:
The second stage from the Department of Sports won the first place in the sports festival.
The third stage from the Department of Sports won the second place in the sports festival.
The first stage from the Department of Sports won the third place in the sports festival.
Finally, the department of sports at the University of Zakho, decided to hold this sports festival annually for the field of "arena and square."
